Jersey is an Island that is perfect for all.
For couples who wish to have a weekend away, there are plenty of quality hotels to relax in. The island is brimming with restaurants that cater for any tastes, but especially its fantastic seafood, which is caught daily. St Helier has all the shopping requirements, from large designer stores, to boutique shops. through to the indoor markets.
Jersey is such a safe place to holiday with the family. With some of the safest beaches you will find anywhere, you will always keep the kids entertained. Even during peak season, there is still plenty of beach area for everyone. Campsites, self catering apartments and hotels can cater for any budget, giving you a tremendous base to explore the island. Hire a car and see what the island has to offer, or use the extensive and simple to use bus service that links you up to all parts of the island. If you are feeling active, walk or cycle the Green Lanes, which get you into the heart and soul of the island. With 10 mph speed limits in these lanes. you can relax and enjoy the surroundings in the knowledge that you safe from speeding traffic.
Jersey has so much to do, you would probably need several visits before you see everything. The Waterfront in St Helier has been transformed over the years, and now has a sports and leisure complex including indoor pools and cinema, so even if the weather isn’t great, then there is always something to do. For those interested in history, there is so much to see and learn about, from castles and forts which can still be visited, to the amazing and emotional Underground Hospital and War Tunnels, which tells the story of the occupation of the Island by the Germans during World War 2. The Islanders suffered greatly, but after the end of the war, they were liberated and this event is still to this day celebrated.
If you are sporty, Jersey has some stunning golf courses, either inland or on the coast. Water sports are extremely popular, with sea adventures occurring on most of the beaches, and at St Ouen, you can surf some awesome waves.
Hire bikes, go horse riding, the choices are endless. If you wanted to feel like you were Jim Bergerac, you can hire vintage cars and see the world famous Jersey cows.
Jersey has an award winning conservation zoo, Jersey Zoo, which was founded in 1959 by Gerard Durrell, and is now an internationally renowned conservation zoo, dedicated to saving animals close to extinction.
For the kids, as well as the beautiful beaches, there are play areas, mini golf courses, a maize, Dinosaur park and many more to keep them active and happy.
Jersey is an island which holds a very deep place in my heart, and with easy transport links, there has never been a better time to visit and create amazing memories.
